"They're forcing us out": Calgary police, tow trucks remove RVs from makeshift commun
A group of RV owners are wondering where they will go now that the city of Calgary has evicted them from a makeshift community along Moraine Road northeast. City crews moved in, along with police and tow trucks on Monday to remove the RVs. “They came in full force, an army of cops, a parking authority, and a little contingent of tow trucks. They’re forcing us out,” said Victor LaRock, who said he has lived in the area for more than a decade. He and others claim they are forced to live in the RVs because they can’t afford the cost of rent or housing in Calgary. Elissa Carpenter reports.
