Rafah deaths mount as Israel plans evacuation

Israeli airstrikes have killed more than 40 Palestinians in Rafah in southern Gaza since Israel's prime minister told the military to plan to evacuate hundreds of thousands of people from the city ahead of a ground invasion. Benjamin Netanyahu said Hamas has four battalions in the city on Gaza's border with Egypt. "It is impossible to achieve the goal of the war of eliminating Hamas" if Israel leaves them there, he said. More than a million Palestinians have crowded into Rafah after fleeing Israeli offensives in other parts of Gaza. Many say they have nowhere else to go now.
