Randwick mayor criticised over calls for Captain Cook statue to be removed

Verve Communications Director Prue MacSween has criticised Randwick Mayor Philipa Veitch’s calls for a Captain Cook statue to be removed. The mayor claimed the statue is a symbol of “colonial oppression”. “This is one woman’s personal view,” Ms MacSween told Sky News host Danica De Giorgio. “We don’t put her in there for her personal views. “She’s got to be accountable for rubbish and rates.”
