‘Really disappointing’: Penny Wong needs to be ‘stronger’ in defending Israel

Liberal MP Aaron Violi slams Foreign Minister Penny Wong as “really disappointing” following a clash between her and Israel’s Foreign Minister Gideon Sa’ar during a phone call. “The Albanese government isn’t in line with our closest ally the United States when it comes to this,” Mr Violi said. “It’s really disappointing to read about the words and the confrontation verbally between the Foreign Minister of Australia and Israel overnight. “They’ve been close allies of ours, we need to be stronger in standing up and supporting Israel as they have the right to defend itself.”
