Rebel group says it has withdrawn troops from Thai-Myanmar border town of Myawaddy

Authorities in Thailand say fighting between Myanmar's military government and an armed resistance has eased, after receiving reports that the warring sides may have started negotiations. Myanmar military troops have allegedly staged a counter-offensive into the town of Myawaddy, forcing a rebel group to pull its fighters out, after occupying it since early April.
