Recent commentary over AUKUS political commitments ‘overblown’

Employment and Workplace Relations Minister Murray Watt has claimed recent commentary over "political commitments" made between the Albanese government and its AUKUS partners have been “a little bit overblown”. “The commitments that have been made are those that are in the agreement and in the Treaty which are publicly available,” Mr Murray said. “So really all that happened over the course of the week was that the agreement was signed to formally confirm the arrangements that had already been agreed between our country, the US and the UK, which is about technology sharing, information sharing. “So, I think some of the commentary about secrets and a political commitment is a little bit overblown.”
