Reform UK's deputy leader Richard Tice insists James McMurdock's election is a "story of redemption" after it emerged the Basildon MP kicked a girlfriend. Court records seen by The Times showed James McMurdock kicked his girlfriend at the time "around four times" during an assault in 2006 when he was 20 years old He was sentenced to 21 days in a young offenders' institute. But it's not clear if he told Reform UK bosses that he kicked his partner before he was selected as a candidate for the party.
