Region hosting upcoming SIDS conference
Barbados and CARICOM are upbeat about the region hosting the upcoming 4th International Conference on Small Island Developing States. That meeting will be held in Antigua and Barbuda come May 27-30. Back in 1994, Barbados hosted the first global conference on the Sustainable Development of Small Island Developing States. Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Ambassador Francois Jackman says the Barbados programme of action - the first of its kind adopted back then addressed the vulnerabilities of SIDS. He says the path must be charted towards the resilient prosperity of SIDS. Ambassador Jackman's comments came during the first session of the preparatory committee of the fourth International Conference on Small Island Developing States at United Nations Headquarters in New York.
