Guyana's President Dr. Irfaan Ali, suggests the planned regional ferry service between his country, Barbados and Trinidad will be a test to prove investment in regional transportation can be profitable. He is confident the service will help the Caribbean achieve the goals of integration and a greater level of trade and food security. Dr. Ali was at the time addressing the opening of the Guyana Energy Conference and Supply Chain Expo in Georgetown. CARICOM Secretary General Dr. Carla Barnett meanwhile says the 15 member bloc is working towards a more resilient energy future. Though energy plays a critical role in the development of the region, she notes the Caribbean faces significant challenges to energy security.
