Remembering Lisa Morris-Julian: PNM Puts Focus On Mourning And Funeral Plans Following Tragedy
The tragic loss of MP Lisa Morris-Julian on December 16th means the People’s National Movement will need to find a new candidate to contest the D’Abadie/O’Meara seat in the 2025 General Election. However, the main focus at this time is the period of mourning, and the funeral plans for the late Minister and her two children. This from Minister of Youth Development and National Service, and General Secretary of the PNM, Foster Cummings. Minister Cummings spoke to the media during a Christmas Dinner hosted by the Minister in the Ministry of Works and Transport, Richie Sookhai. "We at this time have not put that on the front burner. At this time we are focussed on supporting the family as much we can and after the arrangements are made in terms of her funeral etcetera, I’m sure that the Political Leader and the leadership of the party would give consideration to what happens in terms of representation for that constituency." He said the former MP will be greatly missed by the membership and her constituents. "We all loved Lisa Morris-Julian very much. She was a very dedicated and humble servant of the people. You could see the passion with which she sought to represent her constituency and also to serve in the People’s National Movement and we want to send our love and express our deepest condolences to her family."
