Despite the naysayers, Special Envoy to the Prime Minister's Office on Reparations and Economic Enfranchisement, Trevor Prescod says countries are pressing on with their case for reparations and continue their education campaigns enlightening Barbadian and Caribbean nationals of their history. Mr. Prescod told the Mornin' Barbados the Caribbean Reparations Commission is active with some 15 units across the region with assistance from various non-governmental organisations. Partnerships have also been forged with like-minded advocacy groups internationally and on the African continent. Mr. Prescod acknowledged recent gestures where individuals have made donations along with universities and apologies extended on behalf of descendants of some former slave-owning families. He says the advocacy continues regarding the Drax Hall Plantation where a British M.P. is facing demands to pay Barbados for harm caused by slavery at an estate he inherited in the country.
