Republican Mike Johnson wins US House Speaker re-election

US House Speaker Mike Johnson has secured another term leading the House of Representatives. Mike Johnson reached the required 218 votes after successfully persuading two defecting representatives to change their positions. US President-elect Donald Trump endorsed Mr Johnson before the speaker vote and congratulated him on his victory through social media.
