Residents of Sekondi-Takoradi express mixed reactions to demolition of Akufo-Addo statue

The destruction of the Akufo-Addo statue at the Effia Nkwanta roundabout in Sekondi-Takoradi has sparked mixed reactions among residents of the Western Region. The statue, which was found completely demolished in the morning of Monday, January 13, 2025, had been a subject of controversy since its installation in 2024. The statue was previously vandalised in December 2024 when part of its leg was damaged following earlier displeasure over its presence at the roundabout, citing neglect of infrastructure and other pressing needs in the region.
