Respected Qld doctor blames ‘bullying’ bureaucrats for ruining health system

Sky News contributor Des Houghton says one of Queensland's most respected doctors has come out and claimed men in suits “bullied and abused” senior people at his hospital. Dr Phillip Kay, director of emergency medicine at the Princess Alexandra Hospital for 23 years, said there was regular political interference by "the people in suits" who endangered patient safety. “He has really opened up on this; he thinks that the hospital system in Queensland is at the point of collapse,” Mr Houghton said. “He blames the people in suits, as he calls them; he says the bureaucrats make decisions that ... have a negative impact on patient health, and he thinks there should be a new system where they’re bypassed.”
