Reverend condemns recent shooting incidents

A religious leader is condemning recent shooting incidents that claimed the lives of two men and injured three workers within the last week. Reverend Dr. Lucille Baird of Mount Zion's Missions says the church is concerned about the significant increase in violent acts taking place in public areas, putting innocent lives at risk. She says Barbados appears to be on a roller coaster ride to somewhere that is dark and dismal. Dr. Baird addressed the issue this morning at the Granville Williams Bus Terminal where she paid the bus fare for commuters as part of her church's 30th anniversary celebrations. While noting the church is in communities working to get the vexing issue of violence under control, Reverend Baird is making it abundantly clear that it is time the influx of guns into the island is stopped.
