Role of Universities in development - African universities urged to rethink education philosophies

Universities across Africa have been urged to rethink their educational philosophies and align them with current market demands for human resources to drive development on the continent. During the ongoing annual consortium meeting of the Alliance for African Partnership at Makerere University, academicians from Africa and beyond stressed the need for higher education institutions to shift focus from merely awarding academic credentials to fostering tangible transformation in communities.
