As they work to tackle transnational crime, Barbados and the Caribbean have been advised about implementing strategies to undermine the strength of organised crime groups. The Regional Security System (RSS) says they need to improve governance, the rule of law, and the delivery of social services along with employment. Executive Director, Commodore Errington Shurland told the opening of the RSS Council of Ministers' Meeting in Guyana, transnational crimes are enabled by weak governance, which allows corruption to flourish. Commodore Shurland says the Barbados-based RSS understands the strategic importance of robust counter transnational organised crime responses and the protection of maritime and cyber spaces of member states.
