Russian figure skater Kamila Valieva gets 4-year ban from sport over doping

Russian figure skater Kamila Valieva has been given a four-year ban from the sport after committing an anti-doping rule violation, the Court of Arbitration for Sport said Monday. Despite Valieva’s disqualification, the Russian Olympic team will still receive a bronze medal in the 2022 Beijing Olympics. The U.S. has been promoted to gold according to updated results published Tuesday. Russia has said it does not accept the results. In Moscow, Russians expressed their disappointment after news of Valieva’s four-year ban from figure skating. “As a matter of fact, they just crossed her out. I think this is just unfair,” said one Moscow resident, Yuliya.
