Ryan Routh: What we know about suspect in 2nd Trump assassination attempt

For the second time, former U.S. president Donald Trump has become the target of an assassination attempt. This time, as Trump played golf on his course in Florida. The suspect was taken into custody on Sunday, appearing before a federal judge on Monday morning in West Palm Beach with shackles and dark prison scrubs. Ryan Routh, 58, was known to law enforcement in North Carolina and is now charged with possession of a firearm as a former felon and an obliterated serial number. Routh appears to have been a one-time Trump supporter and a staunch supporter of Ukraine, and came within 400 metres of Trump on Sunday. As Global’s Reggie Cecchini explains, Routh’s actions have once again prompted questions to whether or not there are enough safety protocols in place to keep Trump from harm.
