SA Liberals to meet next week to select new party leader following David Speirs’ resignation

The frontrunner to take up the SA Liberals’ top job has denied the position is a poisoned chalice. The party divided by factions is currently without a leader after David Speirs stepped down on Thursday. Deputy Opposition Leader John Gardner is the frontrunner for the Liberal Party’s top job in South Australia. Mr Gardner has denied factions had any roles to play with Mr Speirs’ resignation as he claimed the outgoing Opposition leader made the decision “on his own grounds”.
