Scanners to be installed at all polyclinics
Scanners are to be installed at all the island's polyclinics. The announcement by Prime Minister, Mia Amor Mottley, came as she addressed the Barbados Nurses Association annual general meeting. The move comes in the wake of an attack on a nurse at the St. Philip Polyclinic last month. Ms. Mottley provided a timeline for the installation of the security devices, while also revealing plans for routine maintenance, as a number of the facilities have been plagued by environmental issues. Prime Minister Mottley says Government has submitted proposals for funding to rebuild the Randal Phillips and Eunice Gibson Polyclinics. There are also plans to refurbish the other polyclinics over the next three years. Ms. Mottley has disclosed plans to hold discussions on a national compact for the retention of a number of professions, including nurses.
