Scarborough Secondary School Remains Closed Until Next Wednesday
After an announcement that the Scarborough Secondary School would reopen on Wednesday, the school's Parent Teacher Association called for students to remain at home as a pungent odour from the oil spill continues to emanate. This prompted Chief Secretary Farley Augustine to call for another testing be done on Wednesday. Air quality testing and assessment was conducted at the Scarborough Secondary School in the presence of the school's stakeholders. Tobago Emergency Management Agency (TEMA) Director Allan Stewart explained that 12 areas were assessed. Based on their assessment, the TEMA will make recommendations to the Division of Education, Research and Technology. Mr. Stewart stressed a comprehensive approach to examining the environment is being adopted to ensure staff and students can operate in a safe space.
