Officers pulled a man to safety from the path of an oncoming train with just “seconds” to spare, the Seattle Police Department said on Tuesday, October 15. Newly released body camera footage shows the tense rescue, which took place on October 7. Officers were responding to a man “experiencing a mental health crisis” when they tried to talk him back to safety from a ledge over the tracks but he fell, police said in a statement. “Officers on the platform below crossed the tracks and pulled the man to safety seconds before a train came through,” the statement said. The 57-year-old sustained multiple fractures and was taken to hospital in “critical condition,” police said. “Due to the rescue efforts by first responders, the man survived,” the statement continued.
