Jamal Legen hears with his eyes and speaks through his heart. Acquiring post-lingual deafness after an attack of meningitis at six, Jamal now dedicates his time to the education, inclusion, and human rights for all with disabilities alongside his wife, Anessa. This year’s International Week of the Deaf coincided with the anniversary of one of the Legen’s NGOs: Voice of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing of Trinidad and Tobago.
