Seed planting drones aims to reforest Rio de Janiero

Seed-planting drones are currently being deployed in Rio de Janiero to reforest land that has grown desolate due to climate change. The drones are flying over the vast swaths of the city —with the ability to cover up to 50 hectares a day— to restore botanical life. They are particularly effective for seeding hard-to-reach locations, such as steep hillsides. The initiative aims to address the damage caused by heatwaves, heavy rainfall, and landslides that have left the land parched. The project’s first phase aims to plant 1 million trees, with noticeable results expected within two to five years.
