Barbados Prime Minister Mia Amor Mottley is not relenting in her quest for changes to the international financial architecture. Ms Mottley used a high-level pre-summit of the future event organised by the Sustainable Development Solutions Network to push the plight of Small Island Developing States (SIDS) in accessing finance. The Bridgetown Initiative 3.0, which was presented for consultation at the Fourth International Conference on Small Island Developing States (SIDS4) in Antigua and Barbuda was presented to the forum by the Barbadian leader. Unveiled in 2022, the Bridgetown Initiative has sought a paradigm shift in the global discourse on scaling capital flows and reshaping the financing system to achieve the Sustainable Development Goal and spur climate action. Ms Mottley listed climate change, crime and pandemics as among the greatest threats for small states.
