Senior Minister clears air on EXIM Bank agreement
The US 500 million dollar agreement Barbados signed yesterday with the Export-Import Bank of the United States is a memorandum of understanding and not a loan. This was made clear by Senior Minister in the Prime Minister's office Dr. the Honourable William Duguid who was responding to Opposition Leader Ralph Thorne's contribution to the Business Barbados Bill, 2024. Dr. Duguid has taken Mr. Thorne to task for suggesting that other nationalities do not have a place to work in Barbados. He says he himself has benefitted from working in other jurisdictions, as has the Leader of the Opposition. Dr. Duguid says there are hundreds, if not tens of thousands, of Barbadians, working in other jurisdictions globally.
