Severe arctic weather to hit the United Kingdom

UK residents are being warned to keep their heating on as a weekend of arctic weather approaches. The country is bracing for the coldest winter temperatures so far with some areas expected to see up to 40 centimetres of snow. Pensioners and those facing financial hardship are at heightened risk, as winter fuel payments are being reduced for the first time since the 1990s.
