Severe flooding inundates parts of England, farmland swamped

Serious flooding swamped parts of England on Tuesday as wet and icy weather combined to extend travel disruptions that have plagued the U.K. since the start of the year. Areas of the Midlands remained under water and more than 200 flood warnings were issued as flooded riverbanks inundated villages and drowned farmland. A severe flood warning was issued for the River Soar in Leicestershire and several rail lines and major roads were shut due to poor conditions.
