Singapore's new not-for-profit private acute hospital to focus on affordability
Singapore's next not-for-profit private acute hospital will be designed with affordability in mind. The Health Ministry will impose bill-size restrictions and place the hospital and staff on a single licence. This will help its services become cost-effective while ensuring there is strong oversight over doctors. Health Minister Ong Ye Kung was responding to a question in parliament about the industry consultation launched last month. Mount Alvernia is currently Singapore's only private, not-for-profit hospital. Mr Ong said the new one will give the public more options.
