"As long as the HSR (high-speed rail) is concerned, it is unfortunate we were not able to proceed with it originally, but we are open to listening to new proposals from the Malaysia side, starting from a clean slate," said Singapore Prime Minister Lawrence Wong on Tuesday (Jan 7). He was referring to the Kuala Lumpur–Singapore high-speed rail project, which was first proposed in 2013 but discontinued after multiple postponements at Malaysia's request. The agreement eventually lapsed in December 2020. Mr Wong and Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim were speaking at a joint press conference in Putrajaya as part of the 11th Malaysia-Singapore Leaders' Retreat.
