Singapore PMI records fourth straight month of expansion in December
Singapore's factory activity grew by 0.2 points in December to reach 50.5, marking the fourth straight month of expansion. A reading above 50 of the Purchasing Managers' Index means growth. The performance was due to higher new orders, new exports and factory output. Electronics expanded by 0.1 point from last month to reach 50.2, with new exports growing for the first time in 16 months. Market watchers said the increase in global electronics demand drove the growth, and they are optimistic about the outlook for the new year.
