Singapore President Tharman pays tribute to the late Wee Cho Yaw
Singapore President Tharman Shanmugaratnam on Sunday (Feb 4) paid tribute to the late Wee Cho Yaw, UOB’s former chairman, saying he “contributed greatly to Singapore”. Mr Wee was “one of a kind” and he was deeply interested in culture, said Mr Tharman at Mr Wee's wake. The banking tycoon died aged 95, Singapore bank UOB announced on Saturday. He was at the helm of UOB for more than 60 years before he retired in 2018.
