Protests erupted in Jordan and Iran on Friday, following the death of Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar, who was killed by Israeli forces earlier this week. “They are delusional, those who think that when they kill one of the resistance leaders, or even when they kill the entire chain of command and control in the Palestinian, Lebanese or other resistance. They are delusional if they think that they are killing the spirit of resistance in us," said Rula Al-Hroub, a protester and the secretary-general of Jordan’s Labour Party. In Tehran, Iranians also mourned his death, urging Hamas to quickly find a successor to continue their cause. Meanwhile, Palestinians in the West Bank referred to Sinwar as a "martyr," asserting that his assassination complicates the ongoing conflict in Gaza. Sinwar was known as the architect of Hamas' deadly Oct. 7, 2023 attack on Israel, which triggered the latest conflict in Gaza. According to the Israeli military, he was killed on Wednesday in a gunfight with Israeli forces after a year-long manhunt, and his death was announced on Thursday.
