Sir Philip Serrao remembered as a larger-than-life figure
Sir Philip Serrao was remembered as a larger-than-life figure who was committed to service and barbados. Barbadians from all walks of life, from Prime Minister Mia Amor Mottley and Government officials joined his family in paying their final goodbyes during his funeral service at the St. Mary's Anglican Church. Sir Philip, an attorney at law and former Chairman of the Electoral and Boundaries passed away at his home on July 5, at the age of 78 years. Prime Minister Mottley described the late Serrao as a giant in his own rights despite his small stature. She says Sir Philip along with the late Herbie Yearwood were important foundations of the Barbados Labour Party. Dean Serrao, the eldest of two of the late Sir Philip Serrao's sons says his father was a mentor and friend of many. He fondly remembers his father's love for sports and his time at the Carlton Club. He says his father was good at analysing people.
