The Samuel Jackman Prescod Institute of Technology is being heralded for the strides it has made in advancing the process of renewable energy and reducing the carbon footprint in Barbados. This is from Minister of State in the Ministry of Education Technological and Vocational Training Sandra Husbands. She notes it has not only shone as a technical institution but it has also lived up to the expectation of bridging the skills gap between academia and technology. Minister Husbands made the remarks during the SJPI's 55th-anniversary church service where she laid a wreath at the cenotaph of the national hero at the St. Mary's Church. She says the institute has also been recognised for its contribution to championing the process of carbon footprint reduction. Ms. Husbands says the SJPI has shown its diversity as an institution of innovation being on course to bridge the gender equality gap regarding male to female dominated classrooms.
