Smuggled baby gorilla rescued in Turkey

A baby lowland gorilla was rescued in Turkey when it was illegally shipped in a crate and intercepted by customs during a routine inspection. Customs enforcement teams from the Ministry of Trade discovered the endangered 5-month-old gorilla inside a cage-type cargo shipment that was departing from Nigeria and headed for Bangkok. The gorilla was put under the care of forestry officials and will remain under observation to ensure it is in good health.
