Solution to alleviate farmer's water woes

Ferrocement technology could be part of the solution to the water problems faced by farmers. This national programme technician at the Inter-American Institute for Cooperation on Agriculture (IICA), Damien Hinds. He made the disclosure while discussing the development of projects between the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Nutritional Security and IICA. Ferrocement tanks are built by hand troweling layers of cement mortar onto a wire frame. According to Mr. Hinds, this can be used by farmers to build water storage tanks, to alleviate the problems they face. The agriculture official told the session that attention is also being given to apiculture. He admitted that challenges have been spotted, but the aim is to move apiculture from a hobbyist vocation to a commercial enterprise.
