‘Some comfort for the govt’: Latest Newspoll show election race has ‘tightened’

The latest Newspoll has shown Opposition leader Peter Dutton widening his lead as the more decisive and strong leader against Mr Albanese. On a two-party preferred basis, Labor and the Coalition are tied at 50-50. “I think there’s some comfort for the government and the fact that they’ve tightened and that they’re now 50-50 with the Opposition,” Mr Hawker told Sky News Australia. “Of course, the Opposition’s going to jump on this test about strength and weakness and so forth; try to make something of that.”
