South Africa accuses Israel of genocide

South Africa accused Israel on Thursday (Jan 11) of breaching the United Nations' Genocide Convention - a treaty signed in 1948 in the wake of the Holocaust. It lodged an appeal to the International Court of Justice to force Israel to "immediately suspend" its military operations in Gaza. Israel has dismissed the case as "atrocious" and "preposterous".
