South Africa goes to the polls in key test for ANC's grip on power
South Africans are voting in a general election to elect parliamentary and provincial assemblies. Soaring unemployment, rolling power cuts and violent crime are major concerns among voters. For the first time in 30 years, South Africa’s governing party faces election worries. Support for the African National Congress (ANC) is expected to dramatically fall, and it may lose its parliamentary majority. President Cyril Ramaphosa has cast his vote in Soweto. The former anti-apartheid activist is also the president of the ANC. Soaring unemployment, rolling power cuts and violent crime are key issues among voters.
