South Australia is expecting to swelter through some of the worst drought conditions in 40 years as this summer’s fire season is brought forward by two weeks in preparation. The state's agricultural regions have missed out on more than 100 millimetres of its annual rainfall, causing some areas to experience a record 10-month dry spell. South Australia Fire & Rescue’s Ann Letcher told Sky News Australia the “limited” rainfall will lead to a “really dry” summer. “If a fire starts on a day where we have bad fire conditions, then it is possible to burn even in those areas with quite low fuel loads,” Ms Letcher said.
