South Koreans carry on Yoon impeachments protests
South Koreans rallied against the country's President Yoon Suk Yeol again on Wednesday (December 11), after his move to declare martial law last week ended in failure. Organisers estimated that 50,000 people attended Wednesday's demonstration near the country's National Assembly. The rally came after South Korean police attempted to search the Presidential Office on Wednesday, significantly escalating the investigation against Yoon, top police and military officers over the December 3 martial law declaration that plunged the country into a constitutional crisis. The main opposition Democratic Party said on Wednesday it plans to hold a parliament vote to impeach Yoon on Saturday, with some members of the president's People Power Party having spoken out in favor of such a motion.
