Spotlight on building awareness of gender-based violence
The Bureau of Gender Affairs is placing the spotlight on the seriousness of gender-based violence through a donation of recreational benches featuring special messages. Three such benches were donated to the Lester Vaughn School in St. Thomas. Former Minister of People Empowerment and MP for St. Thomas, Cynthia Forde along with staff of the Bureau of Gender Affairs were on hand for the donation. Break the silence, end violence now and respect are the messages being pushed to students. Deputy Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of People Empowerment and Elder Affairs, Mark Franklyn says the Ministry remains concerned about gender-based violence in society.
