Stifling the internet: Authorities in Africa 'deliberately stopping access'

In 2023, there was a record number of internet shutdowns across Africa. That’s according to the internet rights group, Access Now. The organisation says authorities deliberately interrupted web access at least 283 times in 39 African countries. Al Jazeera’s Nicolas Haque reports from the Senegalese capital, Dakar. There are many ways for governments to interfere with or shut down internet networks, and the methods are evolving. Al Jazeera’s Colin Baker explains how governments do it.
