Stolen Winston Churchill portrait recovered in Italy, charges laid

Two years after it was stolen from Ottawa's Fairmont Château Laurier in 2022, a 1941 portrait of former British prime minister Winston Churchill by famed Canadian photographer Yousuf Karsh has been recovered in Italy. A 43-year-old man from Powassan, Ont., has been charged with multiple offences, but a publication ban is limiting how much can be shared about the case.
