Stronger rehabilitation programmes suggested

The Criminal Justice Research and Planning Unit has suggested the Prison Service may need to strengthen its rehabilitation programmes, given Barbados' high recidivism rate. Director Cheryl Willoughby says recent research points to a link between recidivism and rehabilitation. She was a guest on CBC TV8's Mornin' Barbados. The National Crime Prevention and Reduction Unit has been working alongside the Criminal Justice Research and Planning Unit to secure data, in order to plan and execute programmes to assist Barbadian youth.
