Sudan's capital devastated after a year of conflict, residents struggle for basic services
Sudan’s capital, after nearly 16 months of conflict between the army and the RSF, is devastated. Buildings are scarred, roads littered with ammunition casings, and basic services disrupted. Omdurman residents struggle with limited water and electricity. Restoration efforts are slow and partial, hindered by ongoing control issues. Hospitals are damaged, and lawlessness prevails in RSF-controlled areas. Khartoum, once home to over 8 million, is now a battlefield, with many residents forced to leave due to violence and lack of services. Al Jazeera’s Hiba Morgan reports from Khartoum.
