Support for calls to create national registry of paedophiles
Calls for the creation of a national registry of pedophiles have garnered support from a UN Child Rights Expert. The suggestion was made by Minister of Youth, Charles Griffith and backed by Prime Minister Mia Amor Mottley. Their comments came during Debate on a Report regarding the Child Protection Bill in the Lower House. Now, Chair of the National Committee on the Rights of the Child, Faith Marshall-Harris, is also making her position on the matter clear. Ms. Marshall-Harris was speaking during an interview with CBC News. She has commended the current administration and the Minister of People Empowerment, Kirk Humphrey, who championed the Child Protection Bill. While noting it has been long in coming, she acknowledges that such matters take political will in order to be completed.
