Support for nuclear in Australia ‘very promising’

Liberal Senator Hollie Hughes says it is “very promising” to see “how supportive” Australians are at putting nuclear in the country’s energy mix. Opposition Leader Peter Dutton announced the Coalition’s nuclear plan last week. “Details will continue to be rolled out as we get closer to the election,” Ms Hughes told Sky News Australia. “This is normal in any policy process that you make an announcement and details … will be built up around it. “But what we do know is the seven sites have been announced, but we also know that they’re going to be on brownfield sites where transmission lines, the water for cooling, are already present. “The details will continue to roll out as we get closer to the election, but I think it’s very promising to see how supportive Australians are generally at putting nuclear in our energy mix.”
